Metanoia Editorial Team, Dekai – The Evangelical Christian Church (GKI) of Yalimo Angguruk Metanoia Congregation in Dekai held the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Sunday School Building on Monday, March 25, 2024. This event marks the initial step in realizing the decisions of the 2023 congregation assembly and the agreement of the Children and Youth Fellowship (PAR), fully supported by the PHMJ.

The Head of the Sunday School Building Construction Committee, John Boerdam, explained that the construction plan was initiated due to the urgent need resulting from the increasing number of children attending Sunday School activities.

"Initially, the number of children attending Sunday School was only about 100, but now it has grown to over 700 each week. Therefore, we had to plan for this construction," said John. He further revealed that the budget required for the project is estimated to exceed 1 billion rupiah.

John added that this construction is the result of last year's congregation assembly decision. "In addition to the agreement of the PAR, this construction plan has also received full support from the PHMJ. Consequently, during the 2023 congregation assembly, it was decided that the construction of the Sunday School Building would take place in 2024," he explained.

On the same occasion, the Chairperson of the PAR Board, Aplena Kaiwai, expressed appreciation for the hard work of the construction committee, which enabled the groundbreaking ceremony to take place.

"I would like to thank the committee for their diligent efforts in preparing everything. As a congregation, let us work together to build this Sunday School Building. Let us contribute whatever we can for its construction," Aplena urged.

The construction of the Sunday School Building is expected to provide a better facility to support the spiritual learning and development of the children in the Metanoia Dekai congregation. All congregation members are encouraged to work hand in hand to ensure the smooth completion of the project.
